Klay was a good looking guy with a sleek mouth. He dresses well and has a good career in tech and you can not forget how generous he is. Peace is a beautiful Human Resource Specialist who is a very good friend of Klay.
They enjoy each other’s company and do well to never miss spending lunch time together. Klay’s hope for sometime has been to win Peace’s heart . He has always seen her beauty, wit and general hygienic nature as traits that endear her to him. The challenge is the more he tried, the more she politely turned him down. Klay tried to win her heart by buying excessive amounts of gifts for her, spending quality time with her and just generally doing the things he thought she loved. He did this all to no avail. He eventually started to give up and was about to give up and finally settle into the “Friendzone ” until providence struck and Peace called him to make a dinner date arrangement at his place/ house.
Peace was having a conversation with her Cousin Inikpi about this cool and fun guy she sees as a “bestie”. “Inikpi, I had the best lunch date with my bestie yesterday! “what is inspiring all this ginger? Hope this bestie of yours has not put love potion in your food. Inikpi said as she giggled. Peace paused with a serious look on her face for a few seconds, then burst into laughter alongside her cousin. The conversation continued until it got to a point where Inikpi had to pause and ask a serious question “are you sure you don’t like this your bestie a little too much?” This time Peace’s smile remained in place while she said, “I think I do, but I have to get to know him better.”
During a phone call with Klay, Peace suggested they meet at his place this weekend. Netflix and dinner (That’s if he wouldn’t poison her with his cooking) to which they both laughed and agreed on.
Enter the weekend, Peace gets down from her cab with a huge smile while heading toward Klay’s door. After a few knocks on the door, Klay rushed to open the door presumably from the kitchen because he had his chef’s hat on. Peace noticed his wide grin and reciprocated with Hers; it was going to be an awesome evening. These thoughts started to waver when she walked into the living area/ room. The space was well furnished but there were clothes strewn all over the chairs, dusty surfaces, empty soda cans, and tissue paper wrappers.
Now this wasn’t a pleasant surprise, but Peace did not want this to ruin the evening, so she sucked it up and got on with the visit. Finally, dinner was ready, Klay apologized for the delay and dished out the meal which was Jollof rice, chicken, salad on the side and a bottle of wine.
The meal was delicious and to that effect she had to give Klay a compliment. “Oga Chef Klay, I wasn’t expecting such a well cooked and presented meal! Well done! Klay was pleased to hear this. The remaining part of the meal was very enjoyable with a mix of conversations and just an all-round good atmosphere.
Moving back to the living room area for the movie and dessert both of them tried to settle in. Peace needed to make use of the rest room and asked for directions. On getting there she realized that there was no tissue! How in the world was she going to sort this out? Then she remembered that she had just purchased a pack of “Baby Wipes for The Hygienics Care” on her way over.
She felt sad about it but had to end the evening right then and there. Peace knew that one last conversation for the evening was needed so she started by saying “Oga Chef Klay, thank you so much for dinner and a great evening. Regrettably I have to head home now.” Klay was puzzled and slightly disappointed because they had not started the movie or opened the bottle of wine. He had to find out why “What’s up Peace? Why the sudden urgency to head out? Did I do or say something?” “Haba Oga Chef Klay! You didn’t say anything out of place, I enjoyed the evening up to a point ” Peace said. “What point?” He asked Still puzzled.
“The expectations I have for getting into a relationship are not just based on looks, personality or finance. It has a lot to do with personal hygiene. I did not expect to meet your living space in such a messy and unkempt state and then no tissue in the restroom. These are things that can be worked on.
